Beacon Fisheries & Fisherman’s Dock: Making Waves In the River City

North Florida-Based Fishery and Seafood Purveyor Named One of Top 50 Fastest Growing Companies in Jacksonville

Jacksonville, Florida – (October 14, 2022) – Beacon Fisheries and Fisherman’s Dock is honored to have received the title of one of the top 50 fastest growing companies in Jacksonville in 2022 from the Jacksonville Business Journal. This is the second time the North Florida-based fishery and seafood purveyor has been awarded this accolade.

Beacon Fisheries’ presence in Jacksonville began over 25 years ago with two fishermen who had the dream of bringing high-quality seafood to the U.S. Since then, the fishery has gone on to become our region’s premiere sustainable seafood provider and the number one choice of restaurants and retail outlets in Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia for fresh and frozen seafood. Today, the business’ wholesale division serves local restaurants, country clubs, retirement homes, grocery stores, and more.

“Our mission is to ‘have a positive impact in people’s lives and to develop people and long-term relationships.’ We believe that seafood is just the vehicle that brings us in to people’s lives. The practical implication of this is through our guiding lights; individual respect, people first – profits second, and create value.”

Mike Eddy, Founder and CEO of Beacon Fisheries

Beacon Fisheries continued to expand its local reach in 2015 after acquiring its first retail store, Fisherman’s Dock and began offering Jacksonville neighbors a more direct way to access fresh, local seafood. The store currently has 3 operating locations in Mandarin, Orange Park, and St. Augustine, Florida. Since then, Beacon Fisheries has also acquired a fish house and dock in Saint Augustine, and Fernandina Beach, Florida (the birthplace of the shrimping industry). The Fernandina shrimp house and dock is one of the only facilities on the East Coast that has rock shrimp peelers!

Both Beacon Fisheries and Fisherman’s Dock recognize that one of the things that make the Northeast Florida Region so special is the oceans and delicious seafood selection. That is why the family-owned business is proud to say it produces local seafood from its own dock in St. Augustine, Florida, and processes it at its state-of-the-art seafood processing facility in Jacksonville, Florida. Along with local accessibility, Beacon’s strong relationships with overseas vendors and holding plant in Miami, Florida, allows it access to a wide variety of top-quality species.
